Anne-Marie’s Studio, Volume I -- More Than a Project Book

If you like painting daisies, sunflowers, fruits and ducks, Anne-Marie’s Studio, Volume I will surely satisfy your creative urges. Having published more than 85 pattern packets, Anne-Marie Boisvert has finally decided on writing a book aimed at the decorative painter who wants more than just patterns. Backed by a fine arts background and 12 years of experience in teaching visual arts, Anne-Marie Boisvert offers four attractive projects packaged with a wealth of information on tools and supplies, surface preparation and finishing, painting techniques, and brush uses. The color palette, the required paintbrushes, and the step-by-step painting instructions for each of these projects are not only printed, but also illustrated with color photographs. This book, with its 37 pages of full-blown color, is a must have item for the visual learner or any painter wishing to experience the unique style of this well-known French Canadian artist.

The folk art flowers on a bentwood box in the first project are painted with comma strokes and a round brush. A simple faux finish is introduced as well as an easy border painted with a liner brush and cotton swabs. The next project, done on a notepad holder, is destined for fruit lovers. A yellow pear, a red apple and strawberry, a purple plum, and a couple of blueberries are painted on a checkered background, using doubleloading and spattering techniques. A dragonfly and a family of five ducks sitting on a log among reeds, make up the third project. The decorative painter will enjoy painting this little family using a dagger brush and a comb brush and using techniques such as drybrushing. Painted on all four sides of a tissue box, a field of wild sunflowers under a country blue sky complete this set of four. With its delightful projects, helpful information, and colorful graphics, this book is sure to please.
